President - Chief Executive Officer

O.S. Hawkins came to GuideStone Financial Resources in 1997 as president and chief executive officer. Prior to his tenure at GuideStone, he served as pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas (1993-1997) and pastor of First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for 15 years (1978-1993). Prior to these two pastorates, he served as pastor of two Oklahoma churches, First Baptist Church of Hobart (1972-1974) and First Baptist Church of Ada (1974-1978).

Hawkins, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, earned a B.B.A. Degree from Texas Christian University and the MDiv. And Ph.D. Degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as well as the DMin. Degree from Luther Rice Seminary. He also holds the Doctor of Literature degree (Hon.) from Liberty University including several other honorary doctoral degrees from such institutions as Dallas Baptist University, Southwest Baptist University and the Criswell College.

In addition to his role as GuideStone president and a long-time pastor, Hawkins is a noted author, having published more than 25 books throughout his ministry. During his pastoral ministry, Hawkins oversaw two of the Southern Baptist Convention's most noted churches. In Fort Lauderdale, Hawkins oversaw tremendous growth in the church due to outreach efforts within the church. He was named Clergyman of the Year by the Religious Heritage of America in 1993.

In 1993, he was called to pastor the 23,000-member First Baptist Church of Dallas, succeeding the legendary Dr. W.A. Criswell.

He has been married to his wife, Susie, since 1970, and they have two married daughters, Wendy and Holly; two sons-in-law, Brian and David; and six grandchildren.

John R. Jones, CFA, CLU

Executive Vice President - Chief Operating Officer

John Jones joined GuideStone Financial Resources in January 1989 and was elected senior vice president in February 1990. Following his tenure in the Investment Division, Mr. Jones was elected executive vice president and chief operating officer of GuideStone in February 1998.

Mr. Jones came to GuideStone from the position of Senior Vice President-Trust and head of the Institutional Trust Division for InterFirst Bank, currently Bank of America. He also had prior experience with a major life insurance company in the development, marketing and administration of employee benefit plans.

Mr. Jones earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and holds the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Analyst designations.

Mark Borchgardt, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Mark Borchgardt leads the Finance and Accounting, Actuarial, Human Resources, Support Services and Marketing areas at GuideStone.

Mr. Borchgardt joined GuideStone Financial Resources’ Finance and Accounting staff in 1996. Since then, he has held different positions at GuideStone, including leading Financial Reporting, Retirement and Investment Product Development and Strategic Planning. He previously served as managing director of Retirement Services with responsibility for Retirement Operations and Product Management. He most recently served as chief services and operations officer.

Prior to joining GuideStone, Mr. Borchgardt spent a number of years in the financial industry, primarily in public accounting and banking. He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Baylor University. He is a certified public accountant (CPA).

Timothy E. Head

Executive Officer, Denominational & Public Relations Services

Tim Head provides oversight to the public relations activities for GuideStone Financial Resources and coordinates GuideStone’s relationships within all levels of Southern Baptist Life.

Dr. Head joined GuideStone in November 2010 after serving as a pastor, church planter and lawyer. Prior to joining GuideStone, Dr. Head served as senior pastor of Lighthouse Church in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. He has been active in the local, state and national levels of the Southern Baptist Convention, including tenure as a trustee of GuideStone.

Dr. Head earned his bachelor’s degree from Furman University, a Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina and his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Harold R. Loftin, Jr.

Chief Legal Officer

Harold Loftin serves as Chief Legal Officer for GuideStone Financial Resources.

Prior to joining GuideStone, Mr. Loftin practiced law for more than twenty-two years including eleven years as Trial Counsel for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. He has an extensive background in civil trial law, civil appellate law and securities regulation.

Mr. Loftin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Speech from Houston Baptist University, a Juris Doctor degree from Baylor University School of Law and a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas and is admitted to practice before the federal district courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

William McLemore

William McLemore

Chief Information Officer

William McLemore provides oversight of the information technology areas of GuideStone, including project management, cybersecurity, software development and support and general IT services. He has more than 20 years of experience serving as a senior IT executive in financial services and in the aviation sector. Prior to joining GuideStone in 2016, Mr. McLemore served as VP and Chief Information Officer of Landmark Aviation, Chief Information Officer at Apex Clearing Company, and SVP and Global Chief Information and Technology Officer at Penson Worldwide, Inc. He also served at SunGard Brokerage and Clearance where he was SVP of Product Development and Professional Services.

Mr. McLemore holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and a Master of Science in Information Technology Management from Western Governors University. He holds certifications in the governance of enterprise information technology, agile project management and information technology service management.

Dr. Chu Soh

Chu Soh

Chief Insurance Officer

Chu Soh provides executive leadership to all of GuideStone’s health and welfare plans as well as its property and casualty lines of business, including product development, sales and customer service. Dr. Soh joined GuideStone in 2020.

Prior to joining GuideStone, Soh served in the health care industry after a 21-year career in the United States Air Force. Dr. Soh’s experience includes leading a digital modernization strategy to transform customer experience, driving down urgent care visits and creating a “Total Fit” injury prevention wellness program recognized as an Air Force unit best practice.

Dr. Soh earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from the United States Air Force Academy, a Master of Science in sports medicine from the University of Florida College of Medicine and a doctorate in physical therapy from Baylor College of Medicine.

David Spika, CFA

Chief Strategic Investment Officer

David Spika leads GuideStone Capital Management, LLC, including work associated with GuideStone Funds.

Mr. Spika joined GuideStone in May 2015 as the Global Investment Strategist, where he was responsible for coordinating the development of the firm’s macroeconomic vision, while also leading the asset allocation efforts for the GuideStone retirement strategies. Additionally, he participated in client-facing activities as well as interviews with CNBC and other media.

Before joining GuideStone, he served for 12 years as the senior vice president and Investment Strategist at Westwood Holdings Group. Prior to Westwood, he was with Bank of America and predecessor banks for 17 years, primarily as a portfolio manager and investment specialist.

Mr. Spika holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M University. Mr. Spika is a CFA® charterholder and a member of both the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth.

Christy Teeter

Christy Teeter

Chief Retirement Officer

Christy Teeter provides executive oversight to the Retirement line of business, including retirement sales and marketing, services and operations for GuideStone. Mrs. Teeter joined GuideStone in 1987.

During her tenure, she has served in a variety of roles including Insurance Operations, Customer Relations, Strategic Planning — where she oversaw sales, marketing and distribution — Process Management and Retirement. She most recently led the Retirement Services and Operations team for GuideStone where she oversaw day-to-day customer service for GuideStone’s retirement participants.

Mrs. Teeter holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.
